I’m OK with all of them but I have heard a lot of discussions because of these that is why I want to know your opinion. What do you think?

of the ones I’ve seen, the ones I have a problem with even being nominated:

Johnny Depp for Finding Neverland–love him as an actor, but that movie wasn’t that great, and his performance, though good, was still one of his least impressive.

Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan–again, a good, solid performance, but not outstanding.

Russell Crowe’s performance in Gladiator wasn’t so much because it was difficult as it showed raw star power. His win was more about the difference between that role and his much more impressive turn in The Insider. There are a lot of these performances that are more about star power and charisma than they are about any real stretch as an actor (in particular Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman)

Kevin Costner for Dances With Wolves–great, epic movie. great direction (though a bit long). but just okay acting.
LilyRT | Nov 21, 2009

Nearly all of them didn’t even deserve to be nominated by my definitions.
Awards are for Shakespeare-trained actors–with above-average voices, high intelligence and neutral accents. They’re the real professionals.
They’re the only ones who can adequately play officers, above sergeant rank,
successful professionals, and in the past and future in sci-fi or historical films.

Instead of rewarding professionals, people only good enough for folk-accent movies are constantly being allowed to play roles they scientifically can’t possible succeed in and even being handed awards for them.
Also, since actors get better with age, the way old wine does, actors over 45 most often act from within and younger actors just play themselves usually. So they are better.

From your list, for instance, in 1995, Sean Penn was miles above the other two; and in 1979 none of the three deserved to be nominated. With the ladies, the bias against professionalism is even clearer. Thank you for asking.

Patton
Patton (1970)

IMDB rating: 8.10

Plot: The story of General George S. Patton, Jr. during World War II. His battlefield genius garners him fear and respect from the Germans, and resentment and misunderstanding from the Allies. A military historian and poet, he believes he was a warrior in many past lives, and that he is destined for something great during this life, but his stubbornness and controversial methods nearly prevent the fulfillment of that destiny.

Directors: Schaffner Franklin J.

Actors: Scott George C.,Malden Karl,Young Stephen,Strong Michael,Loftin Carey,Dumortier Albert,Latimore Frank,Paull Morgan,Vogler Karl Michael,Hickman Bill,Zurica Pat,Edwards James,Dobkin Lawrence,Bauer David,Barrie John,Biography,Drama,War,

is it true that gen. george patton was assassinated? by whom? for what reasons?

no one can prove it, but I have heard a theory that he was assassinated by the Russians. The Russians knew how much Patton hated the Russians, and that after the end of WW2 the US and USSR were going to be enemies. Patton was a hell of a leader, probably the greatest tank commander in American history, so if you were Stalin, why not try to whack out a guy who is a great commander, a student of history, that may know how to defeat your forces and a guy that odds are you are going to have to face in the near future. Post-war Germany was a chaotic place, I imagine it would not be hard to sneak KGB agents in to take care of the job and make it look like an accident. I guess the Russians would be the only people able to prove it.

Patton broke his neck when his staff car was T-Boned by a truck. He died about two weeks later.

That’s it.

Staging a car accident is a poor way to assassinate someone. Patton wasn’t wearing a seat belt, and suffered a basal skull fracture; the same injury that killed Dale Earnhardt.
Will | Dec 15, 2009

More conspiratorial nonsense. ALL of the evidence indicates his death was due to a routine traffic accident. It was nothing more. That he broke his neck was something of a freak circumstance - he just took the impact in precisely the wrong way - as the accident itself was not that severe. Certainly no assassin was going to bump into his car and hope his neck snapped. That’s the Chimpanzee part of the brain at work if you buy into crap like that!

Who do you look to for the truth? Is it fiction authors?
I found a long time ago that the only people that will tell you the truth on what COULD happen, and the only people that REALLY know, are fiction authors. They have to know what’s really going on, so they can weave in a story that is believable. They’ll also tell you the truth, they have nothing to hide. Yes, it is possible to lie about the future.

I read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a child and to this day, I’m searching for the golden ticket… you’d think Goldline and Rosland Capital would catch the hint.

Well, fiction writers like myself know a lot more about the real world than some people I know. And we are more intelligent because of our broad knowledge and college-level vocabulary.

Just look at some of the questions I’ve asked in the past.

But when I look at the future, all I see are trends of the past and present colliding to create "paths of probability".

Recurring dreams about being chased?
A recurring theme in my dreams is being chased and I enjoy it. Running thru supermarkets and fields, jumping out of windows and down flights of stairs, hiding and evading people, it’s so fun. What does this mean?

I was about to tell you to pray as soon as you wake up for protection from whatever is trying to pursue you. But I guess you enjoy being pursue. Did you offend anybody in your consciousness? Maybe those people are trying to come after you.
Achorofufu | Dec 19, 2009

There are a number of reasons that you may have these reoccurring dreams. One being that you enjoy the fact that you are being chased, I would say that you are a Alpha personality, and enjoy adventure as well as new and challenging life paths. If you are in your early 20’s. I would recommend getting into a high adrenalin field of work; i.e: Emergency Physician, Emergency Paramedic, SWAT Team Officer or something in the High risk financial field, such as stock market trader or Criminal Attorney.

If during the next few years, your feelings regarding these type of dreams change, you may be remembering a traumatic experience that has been suppressed. If this latter becomes more and more traumatic for you, I would recommend working with a therapist in order to work through these unresolved issues.

What ever the reasons for these dreams. I wish you the best how ever your life turns out.

Why is my family acting this way? How do I respond without making the situation worse?
I’m 25, married and have a 10 month old daughter. My daughter and I frequently visit my Mom and Dad. Usually while we’re there my sister will show up with my 6 year old nephew. My nephew is constantly misbehaving. He doesn’t mind me or anyone else. There have been several occasions when I have tried to be stern with him and I end up getting yelled at (right in front of him) by my sister. The other day we were over there and my daughter (who is pulling herself up to standing, but cannot walk or stand without holding on to something) stood up beside him at the couch. She was holding on, but he kept pushing her and wedging between her and the couch so that she couldn’t hold on. I told him three times not to do it, and even explained to him that she needed to hold onto the couch or she would fall. Sure enough she fell, and landed "too close for comfort" at the leg of the coffee table (which has two upturned metal hooks for feet!!!). I grabbed her and tried to explain that that was why he couldn’t do that and he started screaming at me, "it’s not my fault! I didn’t do anything!" So I calmly, but firmly told him not to yell at me. The whole time this was going on, my sister was parked in the kitchen all the way across the house looking at a magazine. When i told him that, she called my name out sternly (as if I had done something wrong). I ended up leaving…

If this was the first time this had happened it would be one thing, but he’s all the time putting my daughter in danger by not listening to me. As a matter of fact, if I ask him not to do something he does it anyways. He’s not my child to punish, I know that…but his mother evidently doesn’t care what he does. She’s told me on several times that he was her kid and she would raise him how she saw fit. This was right in front of my dad, and he didn’t say anything at all about it. He just pretended like it never happened

Basically this means that I can’t have my daughter around him because he has absolutely no respect for me. He told me that I’m mean to him…"ever since the baby came along." He and my sister live right beside my parents and are over at their house ALL the time. It’s almost like they spy on them and if we go over their they can’t stand to let us have a visit. They always end up showing up.

I’m afraid I’m going to have to stop going to my parent’s house because my daughter’s safety is an issue. I’ve tried to talk to my mom about this and all I got was, "You girls should be ashamed of how you act toward each other!" Well I fail to see what I ever did to her. I’ve never been anything but nice to her, and my behavior has never changed toward her son. Anytime he was acting up I always have tried to correct him. This whole issue has cropped up ever since my daughter was born. What’s worse is that my own mother seems to side with her.

WOW! I never understand these situations, when a bad child is allowed to create chaos. It baffles me.

You are NOT wrong to reprimand him, even if he isn’t your son. You owe it to your daughter. But since everyone is being an a$$, tell your parents you will visit when your sister is not present. Tell them all that your visits will be separate from now on, and you’ll be glad to make a schedule with her so long as she can show enough respect to keep to it.

That’s about all you can do. Or tell your parents they can visit you in your own home, where you have control.
Say What? | Nov 23, 2009

If you really cant stand going over because of your nephew being there maybe meet up some where with your parents or have them come to your to place.
The Crazy One. | Nov 23, 2009

My cousin is about 1 month youger than my twin boys and I can hardley stand to be around him. Thank goodness they live thousands of miles away.

However, you need to go over with out your daughter and try and make sure your sister has other plans. Talk to your Mom and Dad if possible. Tell them that your nephew is out of control and while you love him And your sister, but you just don’t feel as if your daghter is safe around him.

Let her know that you cannot keep coming over with the chance that your nephew is going to hurt your daughter. But invite her to come over often to your house.

Please give me some guidance???? Imagine If you truly believed that your partners life was in danger.?
Prior to this question, about a half hour ago i posted this:(sorry that this is so long)please help though

my girlfriend and i live in the los angeles district. on tuesday nights she has an acting class that runs from 7 pm to 11 pm in a bad area……. especially if she is getting out that late.

before she went to the class i told ehr to call me RIGHT when she got out so that i could know that she is safe.

IT IS NOW 11 40

many things come to mind.
1.is she in danger???? This is the most important of course, i dont know what to do. should i call her again. she is supposed to get out at 11 and it has been 40 minutes. i am so dam worried. what would you do??

2. did she stay longer or did the class go out longer ??? there is no reason for her not to call me by now if she is okay. if she were to stay longer, she should of text me.

3. did she not see my text and just go home?? if this were the case, she already knows how i feel about her being in that area at this time of night, and it is just selfish and careless for her to not let me know, and let me worry like this.

4. (of course this goes through my mind) did she end up talking to some guy through out the 4 hour class, bond, and then go out or something??? she has never given me a reason to believe that she would do this. if she were to call me should i go about asking her this???

it is now 11 46. what should i do? if she calls me and is okay, what should i say??

END

She called me at 12 13
it turned out that her class did end up staying an extra hour, which i can believe because it was very loud as if she were still in the class.
when she called YES i was upset/pissed off.
and she got defensive and said, i dont need this from you right now. im sorry, all the girls left their bags in the back.

she was NOT genuinely sorry, which is not what i want. all i wanted was for her to acknowledge the fact that i was so worried for her.i had every reason to worry like i did, if you are familiar with los angeles you may understand. im just really upset. if my girlfriend were to worry like that about me i would of felt horrible and would of apologized for having her feel like that, and would promise to avoid letting it happen again.
All my girlfriend said was, "why are you mad at me?" and at first she got defensive and said "why do you ahve to know where i am at all times"

i feel like i stress to much about this, and that she does not deserve my time. how would you feel if you were scared to death and believed your partners life was in danger, and they responded to you like this??

This goes both ways. One, you worry too much. She is an adult. Understand that before you came into her life she had no one to answer to. One hour of delay, especially if its a class, can happen. That you kept on calling could have been an interruption. So you are at work, or in a class, in the middle of something and because you receive a call or text you have to drop everything to run and pick up? Sometimes it is not possible. What ever happened to the time where no cell phones existed? You would have had to wait. One hour, and to deal with someone in overdrive that way can be annoying. That once you got her on the phone, for you to act annoyed is out of line. Relief could have been an appropriate reaction.

I understand your concern, but maybe next time, you could give it a bit of more time before going all crazy about it.

On the other hand, since you dont say, it might be that she is not empathic to your concern. Maybe if you explain your worry you guys can find a middle ground.

| Nov 18, 2009

I would be frustrated and upset too. She’s not being understanding or seeing the situation from your point of view at all.

It sounds like, from her response ("Why do you have to know where I am at all times?") that she might be feeling smothered by you. I don’t know what the rest of your relationship is like, but in this particular situation I think your concern is justifiable.

I think you two need to sit down and talk. Explain to her (calmly, without getting defensive) why you were so concerned. Tell her that you trust her and want her to be free to enjoy her life, but when she’s walking alone late at night in a bad area, you worry because you care about her. You just want a simple phone call to know she’s alright. Let her talk too. Try not to get defensive. Be honest and show her that you care for her, and try and avoid placing any blame (no finger pointing.)

I hope that helps. Good luck!
Fiamma | Nov 18, 2009

If it was my girlfriend, sister, mother or any of the women in my life they would not be going into that area at night without me. And if they were somehow able to convince me that I should let them go by themselves and they didn’t call by the agreed upon time I would be down there looking for them, not sitting at home whining about why they haven’t called.
It may not be PC but maybe you should grow a pair and start acting like a man!

How early should we be on the street to get up front seats to the Macy's parade?
Hello, my family and I are traveling from PA to go see the Macy’s parade, and was wondering what time we should go out in the morning to get up front seats along the parade route. We are staying at the Edison hotel, so we are just a very short walk from 7th avenue. What I have been finding is to get upfront seats, you should start arriving around 5am. Is this true? Also if anyone has any other tips they would be greatly appreciated. Also does anyone know if the Christmas tree at Rockefeller center will be lite after the parade? Thanks!

I live in New York and if u want good seats you have to get a ticket

The Rockefeller Tree has its own lighting ceremony and it’s not until December 2.

For the parade people start lining up extremely early. In the Herald Square area, we’ve heard people line up the night before. They line up later further north.

She is later told by CIA agent Hamilton Bartholemew that Charles Lambert was one of five men who stole $250,000 in gold from the U.S. government during World War II, and the government wants it back. The money was not found among his possessions, and Regina can shed no light on its whereabouts. Later that day she is visited by Peter Joshua, whom she had met briefly while on holiday. When her husband’s former partners in crime, who were double-crossed by Charles, start calling her looking for the money, Peter offers to help find it. Thus begins an elaborate charade in which nothing is what it seems to be.

Why would she say it will hurt?
I’ve been dating my girlfriend for 3 weeks and we both agree that we should take it to the next level. So we decided that we would ‘do it’ yesterday, because her parents were out. So I went to hers and we started kissing, but as soon as we started to undress, she said ‘that’s’ going to hurt. She layed on the bed and well, I got hard and then she took a picture on her phone of me and then we were going to start but we heard her mum come in downstairs so we quickly got dressed and put on the charade that we were doing homework.
Well today i was speaking to her and friends were there too. And one of my mates came up to me, i started talking to him, but my girlfriend showed the girls the photo of me. I was SO embarrassed…its a photo for her, not them. But then she said ‘thats going to hurt, isn’t it?’ and all of them said yes, one even through in a definitely.
But its still annoying me why she and all the other girls said that ‘it will hurt’, i just don’t want to ask in case its not the right thing to ask. So my question is, why did she say that it would hurt? Is there something wrong with me?

fuck the bitch hard up her whowho and show her who is boss. if she steps outa line show her the hairy side and lock her in the kitchen. ITS where these women belong!. vote me!

Leave her. Now. Nobody does that! Showing a totally private picture of her boyfriend to her FRIENDS ! She’s stupid as hell… if she thinks it will hurt well i get that its totally normal to feel that way… and u can share ur feelings with ur friends… but dont EVER show a picture of his package :S She’s either REALLY stupid or REALLY immature…i suggest u just dump her… nothing is wrong with you honey :) ThatGirl | Nov 19, 2009

is she a virgin? do you have a big willy? if yes to either question, that’s your answer.

she seems like a douche bag. why would she show her friends?

Shes your girlfriend right? Strange thing, there are 2 things that didnt understood. You ment she showed them to make them louth at or she showed them to make them geleos that he had sex with you. I never had that kind of think, THE THING I DONT REALY UNDERSTAND havent you felt strange when she said that its going to hurt and when she photos you on here phone? I mean my girlfriend photos us together not ME. We are meeting up for 3 years.

The best solution now is to leave that B!t(|-|. And how old are you?

she probably said ‘that’s going to hurt’ because sometimes if the girls isn’t uh wet enough down there and your a little large it can be painful, sometimes afterward the girl will bleed.

to keep her from worrying about getting hurt, work up to it next time so that she has plenty of time to relax and get lubed up so that you slide in easily…

anyway, can’t believe she showed the pic to her friends. i agree with everyone else, not cool.

you should leave her. If she wants to have sex with you after only 3 weeks and is taking and showing off pictures of your penis to her friends then she has Absolutely no respect for you and just wants you for sex. They are saying ‘thats going to hurt’ because you have a big penis. Use it on someone better than her.

Kelsey Grammer sails from TV’s “Frasier” to the big screen in this screwball comedy co-starring Lauren Holly and Rip Torn. Veteran skipper John Dodge (Grammer) will never be a textbook officer, but he’s a brilliant seaman who’s always wanted to command a nuclear submarine. Unfortunately, Admiral Graham (Bruce Dern) would rather sink the fleet than give Dodge his own boat. So Dodge is given the helm of a diesel-powered WW2 sub crewed by a collection of maladjusted, mistake-prone misfits. Then he’s tagged “the enemy” in a crucial war game, and ordered to take on the U.S. Navy’s best. Batten down the hatches for unstoppable hilarity that takes 200 years of naval tradition
