theortically speaking: Would it be ok to tell your unit to "Never surrender"?
You issue your unit a bullet for themselves to either evade capture or commit suicide in times of war.
1) Can you do that? If your unit was sorrunded by enemy forces and if they capture you they will torture you?
2) Would you surrender or die?
3) Can you issue a bullet to your unit and tell them never to surrender?
4) Is sucide OK if you were sorrounded by enemy troops w/ no way out?
5) Lets say a person loses a limb/pain and he says he wants to die. Are you obligated to oblage?
6) Can you sign a DNR **Do not recusitate???
This is a theoractical question. I am really curious on the ARmy’s policy of surrendering. TY.
I meant to never surrender.
well you can’t really force a unit into not surrendering, only encourage them to keep fighting.

Telling your soldiers to kill themselves would be considered an unlawful order and one they do not need to follow.

In the 1960s when I went into the Army we were instructed to NEVER surrender.If surrounded we were to break down into small groups and evade through gaps in the enemy line.If that was not possible we were to fight to the death.A guy from my high school went into the Marines and that is exactly what he and his squad had to do in Vietnam.They ran out of ammunition and used bayonets and knives until they were all killed.I don’t know what the policy is today.I doubt though it is fight to the death.In that case the greedy mercenaries who fill the ranks now would never be able to collect on their benefits & bonuses which seems to be their true motivation for service.

Don’t know what the policy is today,but during the Vietnam war we had a code of conduct, that you
would not surrender as long as you had the means to resist,that was left up to the commander
or the individual;
