Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) IMDB rating: 8.80 Plot: In a distant galaxy eons before the creation of the mythical planet known as Earth, vast civilizations have evolved, and ruling the galaxy is an interstellar Empire created from the ruins of an Old Republic that held sway for generations. During a recent battle techical schematics for a gigantic space station, code named The Death Star, have been unearthed by Rebel spies, and a young woman who is a dissident member of the Imperial Senate, under the cover of a diplomatic mission to the planet Alderaan, is trying to smuggle these plans to the Rebellion. But her spacecraft is attacked by a vast warship of the Empire and seized. The dissident Senator is captured, but the plans for the Death Star are nowhere to be found. While soldiers of the Empire search the nearby planet Tatooine, a series of incidents sweeps up a young desert farmer with dreams of being a fighter pilot in the Rebellion, as he winds up with the Death Star plans and also the assistance of an elderly hermit who once served as a warrior of an ancient order whose chosen weapons were powerful energy swords known as light sabers. The pair recruit a cynical interstellar smuggler and his outsized alien copilot with an ancient freighter heavily modified for combat to help them reach Alderaan - but the planet is obliterated and now the foursome must rescue the young woman held prisoner by the Empire and lead an attack by the Rebellion against the Death Star before it can annihilate all hope of restoring freedom to the galaxy.

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope….archetypes!?
I’m sorry but I’m not a Star War’s fan. In fact, I haven’t seen any of the movies because I actually wanted to. During english, I was pretty much falling asleep so from my understanding, Princess Leia is a damsel in distress. I heard my teacher say that she wasn’t actually that archetype. What is she then??? She was helpless and was begging for help in that robot looking thing where she sent signals and that Luke dude saved her so didn’t that make her a damsel in distress? What other type of archetype is she?

She really isn’t a damsel in distress. The part that you are referring to she was simply asking for help, she wasn’t helpless at all. Throughout the movies she is actually quite proactive and is an essential part to the Rebellion. She is a good fighter and a good leader. She would be a model leader or strong female heroin which is probably what you teacher was talking about.

It is true that she was begging for help in the hologram message stored in R2D2 memory. But if you see the whole movie you will notice that in several scenes it is she who saves Han, Luke, and Chewie.

Star Wars Episode iv,v,vi Remake?
Will they be remaking the old StarWars trilogies? IV,V,VI (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi)? If they are could I please have a link where I can find more info on it…thanks.

Not one single chance in hell. If "old school" fans got even the slightest whiff of Lucas even thinking about doing this he would have thousands of fans dressed as Jedi with their toy lightsabres in hand storming Skywalker Ranch in an attempt to find George and beat some sense into him … lol …

In truth it would be close to impossible to remake the movies and have them be anything more than a minor hit. There are some actors/actresses who simply "own" the characters they play. In the OT you have 3 of them. Yes, Mark Hamil & Carrie Fisher didn’t go on to become the superstar that Harrison Ford did but they owned their parts as Luke & Leia. Fans would not accept remakes without the original cast and that is close to impossible.

Why would they do that? They are as perfect as they can be. Star Wars is the best thing to happen to the film industry and a remake would just kill it, like the Pink Panther with Steve Martin.

This is the first I’ve ever heard of it.

I doubt very much that this would *ever* happen. I can’t think of a single good reason anybody would take such a huge financial risk to remake films which are already pretty darn close to perfect (for what they are) already.

Can i go to the cops and press charges?
So the other day i was at my buddies house playing euchre. My one buddy drove me there and there was no phone reception there. While playing this girl came up to me and cut my hair. I got a little mad but nothing out of control. Later she was asking me if she could shot me. So I walked away from the situation. I was sitting down reading a gun magazine on the other side of the garage minding my own business. She came up from behind me and slapped me in the head grinding some hand sanitizer in the side of my head. I ducked to stop this and she hovered above me continuing. In defense i grabbed the other arm above me and got up and turned it around her back. I told her to stop and she started kicking me. I told her to stop again and i let go of her and pushed her away. Thats when she punched me in the face. There was 5 other people watching this and one was video taping it so there is video evidence. I took a picture of my face and you can see where my face was swelling where i got hit. Now i have these people saying a touched her so if i go to the cops im getting busted. What are your thoughts and do you think i have a case here? Thanks in advance.
Another thing is that this kid has the video evidence and I dont. They said they would be glad to show it that I assaulted a girl on tape.
Also would like to add that I am 20 yrs old and so is the girl that hit me.

Sometimes the system can work against us when you see how the first person to file a complaint gets to watch the other go to jail first.

My suggestion is you immediately file a complaint with the police and provide them with the video evidence showing you were simply attempting to protect yourself.

Likewise, because the offense is a misdemeanor and the police were not physically there when the offense occurred…YOU will have to sign a warrant for the other persons arrest to get the case in court.

The police will provide their investigation and video tape to the District Attorney to help support your case against the other person!
