Timecop
Timecop (1994)

IMDB rating: 5.40

Plot: In Washington DC in 1994, the Senate Oversight Committee (SOC) is being spoken to in the capitol building by George Spota, who explains that for the past 20 years, Doctor Hans Kleindast, the Nobel laureate who help the government with the space program back in the 1960s and 1970s, has been doing research, and his field of research has been time travel. The SOC believes that Hans is a quack — until George tells the SOC that Hans actually succeeded in his research and took a trip to the past then back to the present. You can’t travel into the future because the future hasn’t happened yet. George makes it clear that a covert agency is needed to police time travel, so the Time Enforcement Commission (TEC) is formed. Named as the director of the TEC is Commander Eugene Matuzak, formerly of the Washington DC police department. Senator Aaron McComb, who sees possibilities, agrees to chair the oversight on the new program. Sometime later, at a shopping center, TEC agent Max Walker and his wife Melissa are being watched by a pair of shady looking men. Later, at home. Max and Melissa spend some passionate time together. That night, Melissa is about to tell Max something extremely important when the phone rings. Max answers the phone and is told to go to TEC headquarters. Max gets dressed and as soon as Max opens the front door to go outside, he is attacked by the two men from the shopping center. As the two men are beating Max up. Max sees Aaron looking out the window of the bedroom that Melissa is still in, and Aaron is holding Melissa hostage, forcing Melissa to watch Max’s beating. The two men outside then shoot Max, who is wearing a bulletproof vest — and then an explosion engulfs the house, killing Melissa. On October 30, 1929, on Wall Street in New York City, a man named Lyle Atwood enters an office building and rides an elevator up to an office. There is a sudden ripple in the office, and Max enters from the future. It turns out that Lyle is Max’s partner, and Lyle is planning to stop the depression from happening. Max wants to know who Lyle is working for, and Lyie calls two security men into the office to deal with Max. Max beats up the two security men, and Lyle pulls out a gun and opens fire on Max. When Lyle runs out of bullets, Max forces Lyle to admit that he’s working for Aaron, and that Aaron has paid off a lot of other TEC agents as well. Lyle then jumps out the window. Max jumps out after Lyle, grabs him, and takes Lyle with him back to present time, which is now the year 2004, ten years after Melissa’s murder. TEC judge Marshall sentences Lyle to be immediately executed, so Lyle is sent back to 1929 and is dropped to his death from the point in midair where Max and Lyle disappeared to 2004. At TEC Headquarters in 2004, Aaron, Max, and Matuzak are showing Senator Malcolm Nelson around the TEC building. Aaron reminds everyone that people who go back in time risk coming into contact with a past version of themselves. The same matter cannot occupy the same space at the same time, because if that happens, and if it’s a person accidentally making physical contact with their past version, that person will die, and their body will disappear from the face of the Earth. Later, Max tells Matuzak that Aaron wants to shut down the TEC so no one can stop him from altering the past to his advantage, because Aaron is now running for President of the United States. Aaron’s fading campaign for president is dealt a blow when he is denied federal campaign matching funds. Just before Max wakes up, two men break into his home to kill him, but Max turns the tables and kills the two men who broke in. TEC internal affairs investigator Sarah Fielding questions Max. Max soon learns that Sarah may be on the wrong side in this. Max must travel back and forth in time to bring Aaron down…and when Max goes back to 1994 and finds out what Melissa wanted to tell him 10 years ago, it gives Max incentive to at least try to prevent Melissa’s murder.

What should the punishment for murdering Michael Jackson be?
The so-called doctor that murdered Michael Jackson will soon be charged with involuntary manslaughter, for which he will receive a 4 year state prison sentence, which he quite possibly will not have to serve in full. After he is released he will probably write a book for which he’ll be paid millions of dollars and he’ll be allowed continue to practice medicine, if you could call the barbarism that he was partaking in ‘practicing medicine’.

I think he should be charged with first degree murder and be put to death, but since that’s not an option in California, he should be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. It should also be stipulated that he not make money from any book deals, and if he does, the money is to go directly to a charity chosen by the Jackson Family.

Do you think 4 years is nothing more than a slap on the wrist?

What do you think his punishment should be?

Unlucky 7: Big Dems With Big Problems

While the midterm elections are still more than a year away, Republicans are beginning to lick their chops as rising unemployment rates, a record federal deficit and President Obama’s slipping support signal possible double-digit losses for Democrats in the House and key defeats in the Senate.

The GOP is aiming high, hoping to knock off some Democratic leaders, in addition to lawmakers with less seniority. The races are still wide open, and incumbents traditionally are tough to beat.

Here’s a look at seven of the biggest Democrats facing the biggest threats in the upcoming elections.

Harry Reid
The Senate majority leader is trailing two GOP candidates in next year’s race in Nevada.
Danny Tarkanian, a former University of Nevada-Las Vegas basketball player and son of a legendary basketball coach, leads Reid 50 to 43 percent in a hypothetical head-to-head.
Sue Lowden, former chairwoman of the Nevada Republican Party who officially launched her campaign Thursday, is leading Reid 50 to 40 percent, according to a recent poll by Rasmussen Reports.
But many political analysts believe Reid will prevail because of his opponents’ lack of prominence.

Chris Dodd
The Connecticut senator, chairman of the Banking Committee and perhaps the most vulnerable Senate Democrat in 2010, is facing the toughest re-election fight of his nearly 30 years in Congress.
Polls show him trailing former GOP congressman Rob Simmons, and he’s also facing competition from Linda McMahon, wife of WWE executive Vince McMahon.
Dodd’s popularity has tumbled in the wake of the financial meltdown and his failed 2008 presidential bid. He provoked a home-state backlash after temporarily moving his family to Iowa before his poor showing in the caucuses there.
Dodd has been criticized for collecting Wall Street contributions while chairing the Senate banking panel. He’s also come under fire for his role in writing a bill that protected bonuses for executives at bailed-out insurer American International Group Inc. and for allegations he got favorable treatment on two mortgages with Countrywide Financial Corp.

John Murtha
The Pennsylvania Democrat, chairman of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, has been dogged by a federal corruption investigation into his ties to a Washington lobbying firm. And he has drawn national attention for being critical of his own constituents, once even suggesting that many of them are racist.
He is facing a well-heeled opponent, the third time since his criticism of the Iraq War gave Republicans ammunition.

Source: Photo: AP

Ike Skelton
The Missouri congressman, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, is facing challenges from five Republicans in his first competitive race since being elected in 1976.
His rural district favored John McCain in last year’s presidential election by 60 percent.

David Obey
Obey, a longtime Wisconsin congressman, is chairman of the influential House Appropriations Committee and is considered the architect of the stimulus package that is at the center of a fierce partisan battle over the current economic recovery.
He faces tough GOP opposition from a local district attorney, Sean Duffy, who is a former star of MTV’s reality series "The Real World."
Duffy told the Washington Independent that he’d raised $140,000 for the third quarter, more than half as much as Obey’s challenger raised for the entire 2008 election cycle.

Source: Photo: AP

Barbara Boxer
The California senator, who has taken heat in recent months for clashes at Senate hearings, is facing a potentially tough election challenge from prominent businesswoman Carly Fiorina, who is within striking distance in a recent poll.
A Rasmussen Reports poll in the summer showed that Fiorina is trailing by only 4 percentage points in a hypothetical head-to-head with the three-term incumbent. The poll put Boxer’s support in such a face-off at only 45 percent, with 7 percent of survey respondents saying they’re undecided.

Source: Photo: AP

Blanche Lincoln
Lincoln took control of the agriculture committee after Sen. Tom Harkin was tapped to lead the health committee following Sen. Ted Kennedy’s death.
Lincoln, a moderate Democrat from Nebraska, is a staunch supporter of government farm subsidies, yet she faces a tough re-election in a decidedly conservative state that President Obama lost by 20 percentage points last year.
Her prospective Republican opponent, state Sen. Gilbert Baker, already has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for his campaign.

Dodd is probably in the biggest trouble.

Reid always seems to snake out a win.

Voters in California and in Murtha’s district are too stupid to vote either of them out.

The rest are a toss up.

I know Ike Skelton. He is one of the most knowledgeable Congressmen on the military and military history. His district has two major military bases with people who know how important it is to our defense to have someone like Representative Skelton in charge of the Armed Service Committee.

Congressman Skelton has tended to be a centrist and pragmatist. His history is that when faced with an imperfect bill that is going to pass to work with the majority (whether or not that majority is Democratic or Republican) to make the bill better for the people of his district.

I also know both of the Republicans running. The brother of the main Republican candidate is a supporter of Congressman Skelton.

Harry Reid - Gone
Chris Dodd - People in Connecticut are just as stupid as the people in Massachusetts and they have Kerry and Frank and at one time Kennedy so he will most likely stay.
John Murtha - Maybe the biggest Scumbag of them all and maybe ever but the people of Pennsylvania are in a contest with the two states above to see who can elect the most worthless people on earth, so he most likely stay.
Ike Skelton - bye.
David Obey - Stays under the radar will be there like a bad penny.
Barbara Boxer - People in California are to busy trying to keep their head above water so they will vote for an incumbent.
Blanche Lincoln - most likely gone.

Leni Dutchess of Beggars | Oct 17, 2009

I am a democrat & when I saw Michael Moore’s movie I wanted to get Dodd out of office it made me so mad. But the truth is there are as many republicans who have done the same things that dems have done. I remember when CNN did a show on each person & there were about 10 people they focused on while Fox focuse on 2 which were Frank & Dodd. So this is not accurate. It is like when my husband decided to see how money we were spending each day in cash but he didn’t keep track of everything. His figures were worthless.

Rasmussen was the polling company who always favors republicans & I do not think that is good for republicans except to puff out their egos but they looked like fools running around her bragging a week before the election cause they KNEW that McCain won the election.

I wouldn’t trust fox with anything. They work for the 1% who use the viewers to help them keep living in luxury. If you haven’t seen the Michael Moore movie about Capitalism go see it & you will understand why the republicans are fools. We need the 99% amd some good people from that 1% to come together & stop letting that group rob our country.

I don’t predict anything except miracles happen if they are backed with good reason. The republicans have shown the country they are very hateful & the dems are not going to put up with it cause too many innocent people were harmed during the Bush well, any republican brings suffering to people. Reagan is getting credit for people having jobs when people had well paying jobs & he came in broke up the unions and wife’s who stayed home with kids had to go out to work so 2 people did help the job increase or the extra jobs people got so people can not look at one liners they must look at the whole picture & people can see thanks to technology & better communication that republcans don’t do anything to help anyone except themselves. They lie on their taxes & brag about it them people on here brag they give more when I have seen how dems don’t give so they can deduct.

I don’t know any of them, but from seeing some polls it seems like Reid and Dodd are in big trouble, but Boxer will probably get re-elected, which is awful since Democrats prove to America that they are nothing but racist and hateful and love name-calling people when you don’t agree with their opinions. The rest I don’t know about. Sam, if Fox cannot be trusted, then why are they the highest rated news channel? Newschannels like MSNBC are the ones that cannot be trusted.

Are Eastern Asians more attractive than our Asian Americans?
I’m Asian American but I find Eastern Asian guys more attractive most of the time, like the ones in the Japanese, Taiwanese, and other dramas. They just have an original look, like long stylish hair and different fashion. Asian American guys seem bigger in body mass, most of them have spiky short hair which is too plain, some dress like gangstas.

My brothers and cousins are Asian Americans and Canadians, but they don’t follow what everyone does, which is cool. If there were more Asian Americans like my family then I’d date them. So do you think the foreign Asians are more attractive than our American Asians?

I think so. Eastern Asians in America tend to be reserved and don’t know what’s really happening in East Asia. Compare Vic Chou/Jin Akanishi/Tatsuya Ueda/JaeJoong Hero to Asian-American men and there’s no contest. If Asian-American men looked more like their Asian based counterparts, you’d see Asian men in sexier roles aside from kung-fu.

Asian girls wise- I think Asian-American women are prettier. Ones in Asia get so vain and go so overboard that they don’t even look human anymore and it’s sickening. Eye glue and circle lenses and those kawaii accents are just borderline pathetic. When I was in Japan, I saw a girl with blonde hair sitting on a bench and her eyes were so big that she looked like an anime character. I thought she was a statue until she started talking to someone. Most Asian-American women have the self respect not to degrade themselves like that.

Gentle Mintos | Sep 13, 2008

Western Asians and Asian (the one that lives in Asia) both look the same! You cannot see the difference. I think asians are very attractive, I don’t care if they where from Africa or whatever, there’s no difference…

I loveddddd the first and second ones and I wasn’t aware that Rise of the Lycans was going to be a prequal, pretty much until I saw it. I’m really hoping that there will be a sequel to Evolution, but I have no idea.

I think beckinsale is worried about leaving her career in there

as long as people want to see kate beckinsale in super tight cameltoe spandex, there will ALWAYS BE a sequel
worldwide surprise | Oct 17, 2009

Rumors are that there will be a sequel in 2011, but I think it will fill in the time between Rise of the Lycans and the first Underworld movie…. to show Victor killing Selene’s family and turning her into a vampire. Oh, and rumors say it will be in 3D.

Lycans died because they didnt promote it. I think it was the best in the series. I am thinking a sequel will end up in the direct to DVD with 1/2 the money they spent on any of the prior films. Really sad.

I don’t know for sure but they are planning on making a fourth Underworld movie.

Revelation
Revelation (1999)

IMDB rating: 4.70

Plot: Thorold Stone’s family was among those who vanished three months ago, and he is still stung by that fact. Since childhood, he has always been logical and suspicious, and, of course, he’s uncertain whether Franco Macalousso is the Messiah he claims he is. Stone works for Len Parker, who runs One Nation Earth, the organization that rounds up the Haters who stand in Macalousso’s way. Soon, however, he realises that the Christians have been framed, and he has been set up. To prove Macalusso’s true colours, he must band with his own enemies - the Haters themselves, led by Helen Hannah.

who will be or should be the Guardado (surprise revelation) of 2010?
in 2006, guardado came out of nowhere, not only was his inclusion in the world cup squad a surprise, his abundant minutes and playing time(most notably against argentina) were also a shock, even his quality and good play was a surprise and elevated his status from a good young promising star to a consolidated starter in europe….

so who will it be this time around?

chicharito? de nigris? esqueda? barrera?

i might be the only one saying this but imma say Barrera.

Esqueda is a good player but is inconsistant at times

Chicharito is scoring but before that people were saying Arellano should bench him, he is a good player but won’t be a big surprise for El-Tri.

if it isn’t Barrera i’m going to say Efrain Juarez.

Diablito Has a Point because chicharito and esqueda havent even played enough games with el Tri in these past months so what makes us think they will be going to South Africa?

and i agree with him Barrera will make a hugh splash this upcoming world cup much like his teammate Juarez
Junior Aka Zurdo #16 | Feb 04, 2010

Chicharito- fast tall and a good scorer but not that good with a ball
De Nigris also fast and tall but he aint that consistant as some others are
Esqueda is fats and is a good dribbler and can get away from people and always fights for the ball
Barrera is good but i havent seen much of him just that wanna be Cena celebration

they all might

i think juarez is already a undisputed starter in my eyes this kid has so much versatility he can be mid or even a winger! and hes a great defender! hes going to europe after the world cup!! the rest we will find out slowly as the friendlies roll by it could be all 4 of them! mexico has some great young talent. i would even ad pacheco and jona dos santos to this list!! and im actually lokking forward to the 2014 world cup more than this year!
Alex | Feb 04, 2010

you have got to be kidding me.
Carlos Vela is a really great player and remember he plays in Arsenal. Lets also remember that he was a world champion back in ‘05 in the U-17 world cup.

Chicharito has a lot of talent, but we have to try him in the national team, because Mexico knows this story… players that dont glow as they do in their teams. Lerts wait.

De nigris is a tall, strong player, but lacks technique and if hes facing William Gallas and Diego Lugano, hes going to need more than physical contact.

Esqueda is a special case. A few days ago, his teammate Salvador Cabanas got shot, and now Enrique Esqueda is the starter forward in America. Hes one of the players with most technique and style in the mexican football league… but he has one big problem. For every 10 sshots he makes, he scores 2 goals. In A World Cup, you MUST NOT DO THAT.

Pablo Barrera wont even get minutes in the World Cup having Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Andres guardado and Efrain Juarez as Midfielders.

So im gonna have to go with carlos vela.

Pew pew? | Jul 30, 2007

ioana.florina | Jul 30, 2007

plants (a lot of grass and other small plants)
Mastermind | Jul 30, 2007

clover and seeds that grow among grasses.
Mr. Jessup | Jul 30, 2007

well they ARE a bird. I think they like fish and I KNOW they like bread. They will probably eat bird food if you give it to them, but I wouldn’t recomend feeding it to them out of your hand….
marshmellows.rulez | Jul 30, 2007

actually no, they don’t.

Most are water creatures, they have "Set" places they land, water ways that are abundant with lots of bugs, small fish and small rodents. Most do not eat seeds of any kind.

Smaller birds in your yard will. SO put it out and enjoy.
Those squirrels love it too, yet birds won’t eat it off the ground, its too dangerous, prey can get them.

Wonderful idea. So kind of you. If you want to help them out, then plant Butterfly flowers, they draw other bugs as well.

Don’t feed the geese, they just crap all over the place and make a mess!!!
doane_nut | Jul 30, 2007

Geese are primarily grazers, they eat grass and succulent greens when they are available. Even when there is abundant corn I have seen geese eating grass on city parks and golf courses while most of the ground was covered with snow. If you can find a field of green grass it is one of the best places to decoy geese. Small grain like corn, barley and soybeans are used in the fall when grass is gone or lost its chlorophyll. Generally geese fly out to feed twice a day, once shortly after daylight and again before sunset. During the day they often loaf on the water near food sources. In urban areas they use city parks, golf courses, and lakes and ponds with homes around them.
ritukiran16 | Jul 30, 2007

Geese eat grass and other plant material. They are one of the few birds which can actually graze like sheep. The goose plucks blades of grass which then pass rapidly through the bird’s digestive tract. Like an elephant, the goose extract only small amounts of nutrients from what it eats, but it eats constantly. Unlike an elephant, there is never a lot of heavy, undigested food in its stomach. This allows the goose to fly away if attacked. Canada geese are becomming very common in the midwestern US because of the expansion of open, grassy areas. The geese prefer these since it allows them to spot preditors from a long distance. The lack of forest encourages the growth of grass. Of course, geese will also eat bread, but this is the equivalent of candy to them. Ducks feed primarily on grain and don’t eat grass. Some ducks even eat fish. Ducks are also very fond of insects when they can catch them. Domestic geese will eat grain if it is offered to them. Some geese are force fed grain to enlarge their livers. This is the source of pate de fois.

They know what to eat and where to find it. Please do not feed any wild animals, for their own welfare.
